From Yalta Freerunning to Marvel’s Front Line: Alex Kyshkovych’s Rise
The Honda Odyssey fight that exploded with the audience praising Deadpool & Wolverine earned the 2025 Taurus World Stunt Award for Best Fight. Alex Kyshkovych, Ryan Reynolds’s lead stunt double, shared the trophy with Andy Lister, Daniel Stevens, and Liang Yang. The workload was heavy ,so the team was split while designing choreography and pre-vizing the action to showcase to Director Shawn Levy. The Odyssey fight was nonstop flips, slams, window breaks, and improvised weapons, turning a minivan into a weapon of mass destruction, thus giving the Vancouver based performer the biggest individual honor of his career…. A Taurus World Stunt Award.

Oleksii Kyshkovych was born in the small town of Yalta, Ukraine, on the coast of the Black Sea. From an early age, he was trained by his uncles, and by seven he was enrolled in a local circus program where he spent several formative years honing discipline, coordination, and stage presence.
Around fifteen, he shifted into extreme sports such as downhill biking and snowboarding, earning sponsorships from brands like Specialized. During this time, he also discovered breakdancing, where he developed a deep sense of rhythm and body awareness.
At nineteen, Kyshkovych moved to Toronto, Canada, where he dedicated himself to tricking and gymnastics. He had always dreamed of working in film, and since the age of seven aspired to become a stuntman, his childhood hero was Jackie Chan.
Around 2010, he began working as a background performer, and within just a few years his skill, discipline, and on set presence earned him an upgrade to professional stunt performer. Today, he is deeply honored to hold a Taurus World Stunt Award, an achievement that represents a lifelong journey and dream fulfilled.

When Deadpool & Wolverine went into production, Kyshkovych’s role expanded to fight coordinator and action designer. Reynolds has repeatedly credited him publicly, calling him the creative engine behind the trilogy’s action.
Outside the Deadpool universe, Kyshkovych co-fight coordinated episodes of Peacemaker in 2022, doubled Reynolds again in The Adam Project the same year, and handled Santa Claus stunts for Kurt Russell in both Christmas Chronicles films. In 2024 he co-stunt coordinated Netflix’s live action Avatar: The Last Airbender, training the young cast in grounded, athletic bending battles.
Recent work includes additional fight coordination on Tron: Ares (2025). The future is a path of continued grow for Alex, and here at The ReAction Lab are excited to see where it leads!

At 6 foot 1, with the lean, explosive build of a lifelong traceur, Kyshkovych documents training and behind the scenes moments on Instagram (@alexkyshkovych). With a Taurus Award now to his name, the Ukrainian born Canadian has gone from flipping on Black Sea playgrounds to orchestrating some of the most watched action sequences on the planet.
Behind every unbelievable Deadpool stunt is Kyshkovych, the performer who pioneered the move before it ever hit the screen.
