Brett Chan, a distinguished global leader in the world of stunt coordination, fight choreography, and 2nd unit directing, has scaled to the top of his field due to his exceptional creativity, steadfast commitment, and over 40 years of martial arts practice. His recent notable international works include directing action scenes and fight choreography for the Emmy-nominated HBO series "Warrior", in addition to shaping epic period fight scenes in Netflix's "Marco Polo" and overseeing the martial arts splendor in Marvel's "Iron Fist", as well as Kung Fu (Pilot). In Vancouver, his hometown, Chan's work is prominent in the 80s-inspired action movie "Skyscraper" starring The Rock and the forthcoming sci-fi thriller series "Snow Piercer" on TBS.
Through a career spanning 25 years and extensive worldwide travels, Chan has pioneered HITZ INTERNATIONAL, an assembly of professional stunt artists, coordinators, 2nd unit directors, and horse masters from all over the world. His rich professional background paved his path into directing, with projects like "16", "Foxhunt", and more in the pipeline.
Stationed in Vancouver, Brett Chan's varied roles extend from stunt performer to fight choreographer, and from stunt coordinator to 2nd unit director. He has made significant contributions to films like X-Men 2 (2003), Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009), and The Last Samurai (2003), as well as Resident Evil 5: Retribution (2012), The Cabin In The Woods (2011), Nacho Libre (2006), and HOT ROD (2007), to name a few.
With more than 30 years of martial arts experience, Chan holds a 7th degree Black Belt in Shotokan karate, and he is also skilled in Muay Thai, Krav Maga, Kung Fu, Kali, Tae Kwon Do, Kick boxing, and various weapons styles (European, Asian). Besides, he has a background in Kinesiology and human kinetics and is a certified Personal Trainer and Sports Rehab Massage Therapist.
Chan's career has taken him to various parts of the globe, from North America and New Zealand to Asia and Europe, playing diverse roles from performer to stunt coordinator to 2nd unit director. This worldwide exposure has provided him the chance to collaborate with many respected professionals in the entertainment industry.
Chan founded HITZ International in 2007, uniting a team of professionally trained action specialists from across the world. This organization, including 2nd Unit Directors, stunt coordinators, stuntmen, fight and wire choreographers, and actors, operates across all areas of the entertainment industry. Their work is visible in major motion pictures, feature films, television, TV series, commercials, video games, and websites worldwide, including projects like Ghost In The Shell, Thor, Aquaman, Hacksaw Ridge, and Power Rangers.
Chan's distinctive works include serving as the 2nd unit director and stunt coordinator for director Oshii Mamaru’s Garm Wars: The Last Druid, a live-action adaptation of Japanese anime. He also performed as the fight choreographer and stunt coordinator for DARC (2018) and stunt coordinator for Warrior (2019-).
